Tomsuey Tees in Australia!

A good friend of ours (and an amazing designer!) helped start up Australian Infront – one of the first online communities bringing together and promoting creatives in Australia with a huge global presence! He gave us a great intro into Australia so we sent him some tees in appreciation and also to blatantly promote us as well! Justin wrote us a nice little note on his blog... please check it out!

HOW/Tomsuey T-shirt Winners Announced!!

In a very unscientific and unbiased manner (names on lined paper picked from an empty box), we picked the 3 T-shirt winners!

Thank you to everyone who contributed their twitter accolades or woes in the HOW/Tomsuey T-shirt giveaway.

Entrants either posted their response to "To Tweet or not to Tweet?" in the HOW Forum or on twitter (#HOWgiveaway).

Here are the 3 winners and what they wrote:

From the HOW Forum
Smutek says, "The coolest thing about twitter, to me, is all of the awesome little "twitter bird" illustrations that have spawned in the wake of its creation. Twitters effect on the art of bird illustration will be felt for centuries."

m@ says, "If I joined twitter to tweet, but no one heard it, would it really have happened? More importantly, would I still get 1 of these awesome T's?"

From twitter #HOWgiveaway
@oneupart twote, "Definitely tweet—it's creative corruption at its finest!"

The 3 winners got to pick any tee from the Tomsuey Store and they all picked 3 different designs – Feed Me Me in asphalt, Tastey Tweet in black and Tweet Who in Asphalt!

Five Reasons You Shouldn’t Tweet Professionally

Image above credited to FEED: The Digital Design Blog

Just came across some very interesting (and funny) advice from Tim Richards posted back in April at the Razorfish Digital Design Blog on why you should not twitter professionally!

While several million people pile into Twitter, the Millennial Short Form Brain Nugget Sharing Service, lots of folks are wondering, “How do I manage my work-related persona in these memed-out, darling-and-pundit-infested waters?”

Truth is, tons of folks are readily mixing work and pleasure online. In fact, it’s been going on for years; I think it used to be called business networking, or something. Or, maybe just networking? I think the Social Media label throws the whole thing off - as if it were a new frontier...

At the risk of dropping quadruple negatives, here are Five Reasons You Shouldn’t Tweet Professionally:

1. You’re Not Comfortable with Your Personal and Work Lives Spilling Into Each Other.
2. You’re Not Funny.
3. You’re Not “Good with People.”
4. You Don’t Have a Blog or Somewhere Else to Continue the Conversation.
5. You Can’t Actually Help Your Company’s Customers.

Adweek atwitter about Twitter

Image above credited to Adweek.com

Thought I would share this recent article with you all discussing the supposed hype around twitter! As the first paragraph demonstrates...

"NEW YORK The advertising world is all atwitter about Twitter. A majority of the public at large, by contrast, hasn't even gotten sufficiently interested in Twitter to have a disparaging opinion about it. These contrasting views emerge from a dual-audience LinkedIn Research Network/Harris Poll conducted last month." - Mark Dolliver July 22, 2009.

To read the full article please check out Adweek.com

Although I think the comments posted on the article show an even better insight to how we are regarding this hype over nothing - this one especially from Bob H (July 22, 2009):

"Currently, it's all just a bunch of shameless self-promoters talking at a bunch of shameless self-promoters. As such, it's crap. No wonder a lot of ad peeps (mostly shameless social media "guru" types) are all about it. However, crap is something you need to embrace if you're in this business. So you better be able to spew crap with the best of them when ya need to."

Rob and Heather strike the pose for Tomsuey

A big thank you to Rob and Heather for modeling our new tees for our tomsuey store website. It didn't take too many beers to get Rob to take his shirt off but sorry folks, Heather is a true southern lady!

If you are wondering where Rob gets his wonderful tan – he's a professional wakeboarder for wakeology so spends most of his day on the water!

We all had lots of fun and ended the day at the green room shooting some pool, throwing a few darts and downing some mighty tasty brews.

Tomsuey Store Open for Biz! 24/7

Well we've been talking about it for years and finally we got off our butts and put ink to tees... to start the ball rolling, we are offering 3 Limited Edition designs.

For our entrée into the tee world we decided to comment on the very annoying and lame trend of Tweeting. What the hell is happening people? Have the corporations really won? First the Starbuck Generation, now the anti conversational act of Tweeting.

Are we really all so bored that we need to know when Paris or Hammer are having their next movement? This is just more evidence of the silencing power that machines have to take over our minds and vocal chords.

First evidence of this and other annoying mobile trends were exposed to Tomsuey day after day at an ever increasing alarming rate. Walking the streets of Manhattan we were faced or more to the point not faced by Zombies with their heads hung low, tapping away with no clue of what the hell was going on around them... Tomsuey as loyal representatives of the common man started crying out just as they were about to bump into us... LOOK UP!!!

This works every time and the sheer shock on their pasty stunned faces is so worth it.

Thus the catch phrase "Look up. Speak." was born...

Tomsuey brings you and your buddies a new movement, one where we rise up against the corporations who we all know are the one's pushing this crap.

Shout it out loud with us, from down on the streets with the beats to heights of the rooftops where dreams are made...

We have a voice and we won't be silenced... Look Up...Speak!!
